Its a rainy Sunday and I'm on an uncharacteristically laid back rotation. Naturally, at this time it feels totally feasible to start a blog. In a few months when I'm working the trauma ICU during the thick of summer, I may feel quite differently.
Even if I want to start a blog I'm not sure if I have anything of value to share with the internet world. However, as an avid blog-reader for many years, I'm not sure I can pinpoint the unique contributions of many of my favorites. All I know is I truly love to read them, and I suppose thats all that matters. Maybe someone will enjoy mine.
As someone who manages to match my socks on an estimated 8% of days and once considered macaroni and cheese a well-balanced breakfast, my general level of function is, at times, marginal at best. I may not always have folded laundry or useful groceries, and sometimes my french braid is 2 days old. In contrast, my patients at work get my full, undivided attention and my 100% effort, my pets live like royalty, and I keep my succulents alive, damn it. For now, this is my version of work-life balance, or as a wise person once rephrased it to me, "work-life integration".
If this gains any momentum, before long you'll have the pleasure of reading about the antics of my newly adopted three-legged dog, the blundering clumsiness that comes along with being an Emergency Medicine intern (including the number of times I can crash the ultrasound machine in a shift) and the truly impressive amount if time I dedicate to procrastination disguised as gardening.
